Nano Silver: A Life Changer for People Who Suffer From ECZEMA Keith Moeller, ND What is Eczema? Atopic dermatitis, often referred to as eczema, is a chronic (long-lasting) disease that causes inflammation, redness, and irritation of the skin, that can cause the skin to crack and bleed. It is a common condition that usually begins in childhood; however, anyone can get the disease at any age. Atopic dermatitis is not contagious, so it cannot spread from person to person. (1) Additionally, there are many common products that contain ingredients that may trigger/cause allergic dermatitis. These products include perfumes and colognes as well as fragranced lotion, deodorants, soap, bubble bath, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, and fabric softener

to name a few. (2) How Do You Know if You Have it? Eczema causes the skin to become extremely itchy. Scratching leads to further redness, swelling, cracking, "weeping" clear fluid, crusting, and scaling. In most cases, there are periods of time when the disease is worse, called " flare ups " , followed by periods when the skin improves or clears up entirely, called remissions. Researchers do not know what causes atopic dermatitis, but they do know that genes, the immune system, and the environment can all play a role in the disease. Depending on the severity and location of the symptoms, living with atopic dermatitis can be hard. Some treatments can help control symptoms. For many people, eczema improves by adulthood, but for some, it can be a

lifelong illness. (1) Who Has Problems with Eczema? According to nationaleczema.org, 31.6 million people in the United States, or 10.1% of the population, have some form of eczema. The US CDC reports that one in five kids have some form of eczema! (16) That would be about 15 million kids in the US alone. This skin condition affects all races, ethnicities, genders, and ages, but it can be more or less common in specific groups. For example, 10% of Black Americans, 11% of White Americans, 13% of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans, and 13% of Native Americans have some form of eczema. (3)

The Problem with the Current Drugs Approved to Treat Eczema The current products approved to treat eczema that are being sold on the market may help the condition but often carry with them some very serious and sometimes even life- threatening side effects! As an example, corticosteroids are one of the possible treatments, and some possible side effects of corticosteroids include (4) : • insomnia • mood changes • weight gain • fluid retention • peptic ulcers • high blood pressure • thinning of the skin • cataracts • decreased bone density Another approved prescription eczema drug has listed side effects that include (5) : • fever, sweating, or chills • muscle aches • cough or shortness of breath • blood in your phlegm • weight loss • warm, red, or

painful skin or sores on your body • diarrhea or stomach pain So, with many of the approved drugs possibly causing horrible and life-threatening side effects, the public is left with the question of what they can do about the problem that would be both safe and effective? As parents we feel we cannot let a child suffer. We must search for answers, but the remedy also cannot be worse than the condition. The need to find answers that will not damage or poison our children is great. The best answer may be the use of nano silver. Silver Background History Silver has been used for at least six millennia to prevent microbial infections. It has been shown effective against almost all the problem organisms tested and has been used to
